3DOrder
Have an STL, 3MF or STEP file 3D printed
Existing STL, 3MF and STEP files can be assessed for feasibility and manufactured for the project by 3DOrder. The file alone does not answer every question: material, use, quantity, surface, fits and schedule together determine how the component is prepared and produced.

Understanding STL, 3MF and STEP
STL describes a surface as a triangular mesh and usually contains no reliable information about material, colour or units. 3MF can carry additional model information and is often better suited to direct print-data exchange. Both formats are checked for dimensions, closed geometry and print-critical features before production.
STEP transfers CAD geometry and is particularly useful when dimensions, holes or other features still need to change. A mesh suited to the selected process is generated before printing. Native CAD files can be assessed separately depending on the system and version.
Feasibility review before quotation
The review covers outer dimensions, wall thicknesses, overhangs, cavities, possible supports, orientation and available build volume. Functional parts additionally require fits, load direction, temperature and environment.
Broken, incomplete or extremely dense meshes can need repair or preparation. Additional work is not performed silently; it is described and quoted first.
Material, quantity and approval
Material and process are selected for the intended use. A material name alone does not guarantee part properties because geometry, orientation, wall thickness and process also matter. A single approval part is often useful for unknown fits or new geometry.
A controlled file version is recorded for multiple identical parts. Variants, colours, markings, finishing and inspection points must be agreed clearly before a small batch begins.
What we need for a quotation
- STL, 3MF, STEP or available CAD file
- Required real dimensions and unit
- Intended use, loads and environment
- Critical dimensions, fits and visible surfaces
- Quantity, colour, finishing and schedule
Frequently asked questions
Can every STL file be printed directly?
No. Open surfaces, incorrect scale, very thin walls or unsuitable geometry can require correction. The file is therefore checked first.
Is STEP better than STL?
STEP is generally better for design changes. A clean STL or 3MF can still be entirely sufficient for direct printability review.
Can a faulty file be repaired?
Depending on the problem, yes. Repair or modelling effort is quoted separately after inspection.
Will I receive a fixed price before production?
After reviewing the file, requirements, quantity and finishing, 3DOrder issues an individual quotation. Work only begins after approval.
