3D-printed enclosures and covers can be adapted to circuit boards, connectors, fasteners and available space. 3DOrder designs or manufactures custom enclosures for prototypes, repairs and small batches when environmental and safety requirements can be clarified reliably.

Design, openings and fasteners
Board dimensions, connectors, cable paths, buttons, displays and mounting points are recorded as interfaces. Wall thicknesses, radii, ribs and part splits are designed for printing.
Depending on size and use, covers may be screwed, plugged in or use suitable snap features. Opening frequency, maintenance access and assembly sequence must be known first.
Indoor, outdoor and material requirements
Temperature, moisture, UV, cleaning agents and mechanical loads influence material and design. Electrical components can add requirements for fire behaviour, insulation, ventilation and approvals.
An IP rating, electrical safety or outdoor suitability does not result from enclosure shape alone. Such properties only apply after an agreed design and the necessary tests.
Prototype and small batch
A first prototype checks installation, operation, cable paths and assembly. After approval, variants for different connectors, markings or assemblies can be versioned.
For small batches, file version, material, colour, inserts and finishing are defined clearly. Customer-supplied electronics are handled only within the agreed scope.

Frequently asked questions
Can an enclosure be designed around an existing circuit board?
Yes. Reliable dimensions or CAD data and the position of every connector, control and mounting point are needed.
Are snap-fit covers possible?
Snap features may be assessed depending on material, size, opening frequency and geometry. Screws can be more suitable for high loads or frequent maintenance.
Is a printed enclosure automatically waterproof?
No. Sealing or an IP rating must be designed deliberately and verified by appropriate testing.
